Competitions and events at the FlowRider®
FlowRider® Newquay has proudly hosted both the UK Pro Surf Tour FlowRider® Championships as well as The European FlowRider® championships.
These competitions have brought professional surfers and FlowRider®s from all over the world with competitors flying in from Sweden, Holland, South Africa and more. The FlowRider® Newquay has proved to be the ideal location for these competitions, with its amphitheatre style viewing decks and with our Green Room restaurant overlooking the FlowRider®.

Download our Hgih Res poster and spread the hypeOn 21st July 2012 The Loop FlowRider at Retallack Resort will hosting a stop of the European Flow Tour in association with WaveLoch, O'Neill and DC. With some of the best FlowRiders in Europe set to compete it's going to be an action packed day that you will not want to miss out on.
The action begins from 1pm with the Open division taking to the wave first. Other categories on the day include Body Boarding, Women's and the hilarious and un miss able Team Comp. Watch Europe's best carve, Ollie and flip their way to victory and a place in the European Finals held in Yorkshire later this year to earn a place in Team Europe at the World FlowRiding Games 2012.
If that's not enough there is plenty of entertainment throughout the day. With some top bands and DJ's playing late into the night why not make a night of it with us at The Loop.
There will be great food from the BBQ serving all day as well as The Loop cocktail bar which will also be shaking up some tasty drinks to enjoy the decking while you watch the action unfold on FlowRider. Top Riders from all over Europe will be competing including. Gethin Walters current Men's European Body Board Champion. Luke Hopper former runner up at 1st European event held at the Loop, as well as many other.
We hope to see as many of you there as possible to watch, eat, drink or just hang out at The Loop, Retallack Resort and Spa.

Open - £30 to enter 1.5 practice hours prior to event+ entry into the competition
Open - Heats of 4 riders. Each rider has 3x 45 sec runs per heat. Top 2 progress through the competition.
Body Boarding - £30 to enter
Womens - £30 to enter
Team Event - 4 per team – cost included in Entry feeTeam event details – 4 team members per team. Each team can be any ability from complete novice to expert. There will be a list of tricks that each team can perform for points. These will range from spins, to flip tricks, to riding inflatable's, throwing a ball to and from the team member on the ride etc. Each trick completed will receive one point for that team. The team with the most points at the end of the time allowed wins. Other teams can distract the team on the ride to gain an advantage in safe way.
In all categories apart from the team event, each run will last 45 sec with the chance at the end of that run to try one bonus trick. The bonus trick will not decrease your score but can improve it. Each run will be scored out of 10 to one decimal place. Eg 5.5. For an average run 10 for perfect, a 1 for a poor run. Top 2 rider's progress, runs will be scored on style, variety of tricks, difficulty of manoeuvres, and use of the whole wave as well as Progression of manoeuvres. How tricks are landed will also be taken into consideration. For example hands on the matt to land the manoeuvre will deduct from the score of the manoeuvre.
